Yailin La Más Viral is no stranger to making headlines, whether it be for her high-profile relationships or her bold reinventions, such as surgically changing her eye color. But in early March, the rising Dominican star caught attention in a completely new way, with a career milestone that made history: she sold out her first headlining concert at the iconic United Palace in New York for two consecutive nights, becoming the first Dominican woman to do so, and the third Latina after Karol G and Becky G, confirmed the venue’s CEO to Billboard Español. “I feel very proud and it was something very important,” says Yailin to Billboard Español, reflecting on her growing success and overwhelming support from the Caribbean community and beyond. “It’s a great pride to do it as a Dominican, as a woman, representing Dominican youth, and our genre; the support that the fans gave me and putting my culture on a high.” At just 22 years old, she is not only dominating the stage, but living up to her stage name – “Yailin La Más Viral” – with her latest hits. “Bing Bong,” released in November 2024, has accumulated an astonishing 175 million views on YouTube to date, in addition to 75 million streams on Spotify. In this song, inspired by a spontaneous encounter with Brazilian artist Veigh during Billboard Latin Music Week in Miami, Yailin dives into Brazilian funk and infuses her signature Dominican dembow. The result? A fresh, contagious, provocative, and original sound. The song earned her a spot on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart at No. 28, her first solo hit. Meanwhile, new tracks like “Silla” and “Chapa” – all three produced by Puyalo Pantera and Yailin – continue to rack up tens of millions of streams. She also caused a stir on the internet when she was seen celebrating New Year’s Eve in Santo Domingo with Spanish superstar Rosalía. “I had my first encounter with Rosalía when I was in a relationship with Catta’s dad,” she says, referring to Anuel AA and his daughter Cattleya. “[Rosalía] was a very warm person, she offered me her friendship, despite everything that was going on. We continue to communicate and have created a friendship.” A few days earlier, she sang “Obsesión” with Romeo Santos when Aventura performed at the Olympic Stadium in the Dominican Republic. “It was something very significant. Romeo is someone very important to us,” she adds. Yailin (whose real name is Georgina Lulú Guillermo Díaz) grew up in Santo Domingo, immersed in the characteristic sounds of her homeland such as dembow. “Our carnival music, with drums and things like that, has always been a part of our culture,” she says. “I grew up listening to it and it’s a big influence on my music.” She started her career as a dancer and choreographer, but her passion for music led her to start writing and recording her own songs. She gained recognition in the Dominican Republic with her first single “La Chapa,” which became a viral hit and caught the attention of major record labels. She eventually signed with Sony Music Latin and has been making waves in the industry ever since. With her unique blend of Dominican dembow, Brazilian funk, and other Latin rhythms, Yailin is carving out her own space in the music world and representing her culture proudly. “I want to continue to make music that people can dance to and enjoy, but also that has a message and represents who I am and where I come from,” she says. “I am grateful for all the support and love I have received so far, and I am excited to see what the future holds.
