The Ameri world tour by Duki, presented by Live Nation, arrived in Miami on Saturday (May 17) with a burst of energy, Argentine pride, and rock star attitude. The audience – mostly made up of children and teenagers accompanied by their parents, as well as young adults in their twenties – filled the Kaseya Center and chanted “Duki, Duki, Duki!” minutes before 9 p.m. Shortly after, a three-piece band (drums, keyboardist, and guitarist) took the stage illuminated in red tones, and Duki (whose real name is Mauro Ezequiel Lombardo Quiroga) appeared singing “Leitmotiv”. He continued to perform almost all the songs from his latest studio album, Ameri, in order: “Nueva era”, “Brindis”, “Buscarte lejos”, “Imperio”, “Hardaway” and “Cine”, to name a few.
“Thank you for sharing this night with me, Miami. I am Duki!” said the Argentine trap star to his ecstatic fans. Dressed in a black sleeveless shirt, baggy jeans, a black cap, and white Adidas shoes, Duki – known as one of the pioneers of the Argentine trap movement – did not hold back in channeling his rockier side. “Vida de Rock”, “Rockstar” and his collaboration with Bad Bunny “Hablamos mañana” were some of the songs that fused rock with rap and made the crowd jump and chant intensely. He also performed hits like “Si te sentís sola”, “Goteo” and his “BZRP Music Sessions #50”.
One of the highlights of the night was when he took his fans on a trip down memory lane by performing his debut hit from 2017, “Loca”. The remix of the song, in collaboration with Bunny and Cazzu, gave Duki his first entry on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart the same year. But the biggest moment of the night came when Puerto Rican urban artist Jhayco surprised fans to perform their collaboration “Rockstar 2.0”.
“Thank you so much, my beautiful people! Thank you for bringing me so far from home to such an iconic place,” Duki expressed to his fans. “This whole tour was thanks to you and for all of you. I thank you with all my soul. Without you, this would make no sense.” At 10:30 p.m., Duki closed his set with the fan favorite “Givenchy”.
Last December, Duki became the first urban artist to sell out Argentina’s largest stadium – the legendary Estadio River Plate in Buenos Aires – not once, but twice, selling 140,000 tickets in total over both nights. This year, he also became the first urban artist to play and sell out all tickets at the Bernabéu stadium in Madrid, Spain. Duki closes his Ameri world tour on Sunday (May 18).
The tour, which kicked off in March, has taken Duki to cities across Latin America, Europe, and the United States, including stops in Mexico City, Santiago, Madrid, and New York. The tour has been a huge success, with sold-out shows and enthusiastic crowds at every stop. Duki’s unique blend of trap and rock has resonated with fans all over the world, and his high-energy performances have solidified his status as one of the top artists in the Latin trap scene.
But Duki’s success goes beyond just his music. He has become a cultural icon in Argentina and a role model for young people. His rise to fame has been meteoric, and he has used his platform to speak out about important issues, such as mental health and social justice. He has also been vocal about his pride in his Argentine roots and has become a symbol of national pride for many.
As the Ameri world tour comes to an end, Duki’s fans can look back on an unforgettable experience. From the high-energy performances to the surprise guest appearances, the tour has been a celebration of Duki’s talent and his connection with his fans. And as he continues to break barriers and make history in the Latin music industry, it’s clear that Duki’s star will only continue to rise.
