Elegance. Stage talent. Unique style. Rauw Alejandro made his grand return to New York City on Monday (May 19), kicking off three epic nights at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn as part of his Cosa Nuestra tour. For the Puerto Rican singer, these performances hold great significance as they combine his personal story with the cultural legacy of the Puerto Rican community in New York. My grandparents came here to work hard, to earn money for the family. Cosa Nuestra was made here in New York entirely. Tonight is special. This concert is a little different from the others.” And he was absolutely right. The energy in the arena was electrifying, with attendees dressed to impress according to the “dress code” for the night – a glamorous celebration that felt more like a Broadway musical than a typical Latin music concert. And Rauw delivered a high-impact drama divided into four acts. At times, he evoked the iconic West Side Story and Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal” music video, while performing his own repertoire of hits – from songs off his new album Cosa Nuestra like “Revolú,” “Déjame entrar,” and “Mil mujeres,” to some classics from his career like “Tattoo,” “Todo de ti,” and “Desesperados.” The show was filled with visuals showcasing iconic New York landmarks and his Latin roots, with the Brooklyn Bridge and the city skyline as a backdrop. With his impeccable choreography, a wardrobe of impeccably tailored suits, and a vintage luxury car in a particularly standout scene, Rauw’s tribute to the Puerto Rican diaspora was moving and bold – a celebration of resilience, culture, and identity. For me, as a Puerto Rican from New York,” said one elegantly dressed attendee in vintage-style pants and a beret. “There is so much history here, so much culture, and it’s important to celebrate that.” The night was filled with unforgettable moments, from Rauw’s powerful vocals to his dynamic stage presence and the stunning visuals that transported the audience to the streets of New York. The show also featured special guests, including fellow Puerto Rican artists like Ozuna and Anuel AA, who joined Rauw on stage for a memorable performance of their hit collaboration “La Ocasión.” The energy in the arena was electric, with fans singing and dancing along to every song. And as the night came to a close, Rauw took a moment to thank his fans and express his gratitude for the opportunity to perform in New York City. “Thank you, New York, for this incredible night. This is a dream come true for me,” he said. “I am so grateful for all of you and for the opportunity to share my music with the world. This is just the beginning.” And with that, Rauw Alejandro left the stage, leaving behind a lasting impression on the city that never sleeps.
