Danny Ocean and Kapo have reached the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Latin Pop Airplay chart with their first collaboration, “Imagínate”. The song jumps from No. 3 to No. 1 on the chart dated March 15th. This marks Kapo’s first No. 1 on the chart, while Ocean earns his second. In the tracking week of February 28th to March 6th, “Imagínate” registered 6 million audience impressions in the United States, driven by a 19% increase compared to the previous week, according to Luminate. The song earns the title of Greatest Gainer, given weekly to the song with the biggest increase in audience.
“Thank you all for the infinite support and for helping us achieve this No. 1 with Kapo,” Ocean tells Billboard. “It’s beautiful to see how a song that talks about taking that person you love to that place you miss so much is connecting so strongly with everyone.”
“Imagínate”, by Ocean, was released on November 7th, 2024 under Atlantic/Warner Latina. It debuted at No. 14 in December and has spent 11 out of its 12 weeks in the top 10.
“I’m very happy about everything that’s happening with ‘Imagínate’,” Kapo tells Billboard. “It’s a song that we made with a lot of passion, that is music, it’s art, and art itself with energy is what flows. Thank God we were able to connect very well with Danny. He’s an artist that I’ve respected and admired for a long time and for me it’s an honor. And well, what more can you ask for than to have a song with one of your favorite artists and for it to be a hit.”
With “Imagínate”, Ocean earns his second No. 1 on Latin Pop Airplay in less than a year, after “Amor” topped the chart for two weeks in June 2024. Between the latter and “Imagínate”, the Venezuelan artist reached No. 6 with “Ley universal” in October last year. In total, Ocean has achieved five top 10 hits.
As for Kapo, “Imagínate” marks his first No. 1 on the Latin pop radio chart. The Colombian artist made his chart debut in August 2024 with “Ohnana”, which climbed to give him his first No. 1 on any Billboard chart last November. The song topped Latin Rhythm Airplay for 11 weeks. Soon after, the artist achieved four more top 10 hits, including “Imagínate”, which rises from No. 7 to No. 5 on the current chart.
The song joins two other Kapo tracks in the top 10 of Latin Rhythm Airplay: “Uwaie”, in its second week at No. 4, and “Más que tú” featuring Ozuna, which climbs from No. 9 to No. 8.
“We feel proud of all our fans who are the ones who make [our songs] reach this point,” adds Kapo. “It’s incredible and it makes us feel very grateful to our people, our team, and Billboard.”
Kapo has a lot to celebrate this week. In addition to his first No. 1 on Latin Pop Airplay, he announced his first tour, Por Si Alguien Nos Escucha, today (March 11th). The tour will kick off in May and will take him to cities across the United States and Latin America.
“Por Si Alguien Nos Escucha is a dream come true,” says Kapo. “It’s something we’ve been working on for a long time and we’re excited to finally be able to share it with our fans. We can’t wait to see everyone on tour and perform ‘Imagínate’ live for the first time.”
The success of “Imagínate” and Kapo’s upcoming tour are a testament to the rising star’s talent and hard work. With his unique sound and captivating performances, Kapo is quickly becoming one of the most promising artists in the Latin music industry. And with the support of his fans and the recognition of Billboard, there’s no doubt that he will continue to achieve great success in the future.
