Grupo Firme is preparing to start La Última Peda Tour on April 11 in Mexicali, after canceling a performance in Mazatlán following the appearance of a narcomanta with alleged death threats. And they will do so with reinforced security. “People can come and have a good time,” Eduin Caz, leader of the band, said at a press conference on Thursday (March 27) at the Estadio Caliente in their hometown of Tijuana, where the second show will take place on April 12. “We have reinforced security for this tour in Mexico. Grupo Firme concerts are meant to be enjoyed and that’s how it will be.” Related Grupo Firme cancels concert in Mazatlán due to alleged drug cartel threats 02/26/2025 After three years of absence, La Última Peda Tour will take Grupo Firme to 23 stadiums in Mexico, including their eighth performance at the Estadio GNP Seguros (formerly Foro Sol) on June 28, as well as their return to “palenques,” a type of more intimate show that allows for greater interaction with the audience. “We need to experience that closeness with the people that only these types of venues can provide,” said Jhonny Cazares, third voice of the group. “Great artists we admire, like Alfredo Olivas and Julión Álvarez, perform in them. They are smaller, but no less important. They are also part of our culture.” Meanwhile, the State government and the Baja California Prosecutor’s Office continue to work on the investigation of the threat against the band. The cancellation of the March 1 concert as part of the Mazatlán Carnival was the result of the discovery of an alleged narcomanta and a human head in a box on February 25 in Tijuana, a fact confirmed to Billboard Español by the State Prosecutor’s Office of Baja California. So far, there have been four arrests in the case, Excelsior TV reported, citing the prosecutor’s office. “We appreciate the support of the authorities who have been attentive since the beginning,” Caz added. “We cannot provide more details to avoid interfering with the investigations.” Soon, Grupo Firme will be releasing a new album in May. In an interview with Billboard Español, the singer revealed some details about this work, which was produced by renowned composer and producer Joss Favela, as well as Abraham Luna, second voice and producer of the group. “The musical arrangements are different,” Caz revealed. “We have integrated piano, electric guitar, and saxophone with the banda and norteño. Our musical bases do not change. The lyrics are just how they come to me, about heartbreak, which are the ones I do best.” “We recorded 17 songs, but we will only release 12, all of which are very good,” he continued. “So far, we have released two singles, ‘El Roto’ and ‘El Amor No Fue Pa’ Mí,’ and they have been very well received. We are excited for people to hear the rest of the album.
