Junior H, one of the most important exponents of the new regional Mexican music, is ready to take the stage at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival 2025. Just one year after debuting at the event as a guest of his friend Peso Pluma, the interpreter of global hits like “Lady Gaga,” “Ella,” and “Tres botellas” will have his own set as a headlining artist on April 13 and 20.
“It’s an honor, something very beautiful to represent Mexico, represent the genre and share with the people who like my music, although the goal is to win new fans,” says Junior H to Billboard Español. “Coachella is a stage where artists from many countries perform. That’s why I’m very excited and of course it’s a challenge and a great opportunity.”

Although he said he won’t have guests and that his show will be shorter than what he normally presents at his concerts, the interpreter of Hot 100 hits like “Y lloro,” “Fin de semana,” and “Bipolar” promises to give “the best of my repertoire.”
In the last five years, Junior H (whose real name is Antonio Herrera) has been carving a firm path since the days he was discovered by the independent label Rancho Humilde based in Los Angeles. Today he has his own label, Sad Boyz Entertainment.
“La Letra Muda,” as he is also known, knows what it’s like to be in front of large crowds. In May 2023, he surprised by achieving two sold-out shows at the Plaza Mexico in Mexico City, with a capacity of 50,000 people, being an artist emerged from social media and platforms.
“That moment was really the beginning, where we realized that we have true fans, not followers. It was impressive,” he says. “Then we jumped to Foro Sol and it was beautiful. Later we arrived in the United States to very big places, so I am infinitely grateful.”
With the concept of his 2023 album Sad Boyz 4 Life II, which reached No. 2 on the Billboard Top Latin Albums and Top Regional Mexican Albums charts, Junior H had a quick connection with young people who had known him as an interpreter of corridos tumbados, but found in his new style more profound and sentimental themes. The 23-year-old singer was born in Guanajuato, also the land of singer-songwriter José Alfredo Jiménez, so ranchera music was part of his childhood. In his adolescence, thanks to his sisters, he listened to Edén Muñoz, with whom he fulfilled the dream of making a collaboration, “Abcdario.”
More recently, the group Máximo Grado, a reference in corridos, has been a major influence on Junior H’s music. He has collaborated with them on several occasions, including on the hit “El de la Guitarra.” The young artist has also worked with other big names in the genre, such as Natanael Cano and El Fantasma.
Junior H’s music has a unique blend of traditional Mexican sounds with modern elements, making it appealing to both older and younger audiences. His lyrics often touch on themes of love, heartbreak, and the struggles of everyday life, making him relatable to many listeners.
With his upcoming performance at Coachella 2025, Junior H is set to reach an even wider audience and solidify his place as one of the top artists in the new regional Mexican music scene. His success is a testament to the power of social media and the growing popularity of this genre among young listeners. As he continues to evolve and experiment with his music, there’s no doubt that Junior H will continue to make a name for himself in the music industry.
