Karol G is celebrating Latina women and a new stage in her career with her new single “Latina Foreva”, released on Thursday (May 22) under Bichota Records. Marking her first official release of the year, the vibrant track – produced by Mazzarri and Misha, and co-written by Karol and Daniela “La Guru” Aponte – combines the sound of old school reggaeton with pop melodies, an energetic rhythm, the artist’s characteristic confidence, and her pride in her culture. The conceptual music video, directed by Pedro Artola (“Provenza”, “TQG”, “Si antes te hubiera conocido”), shows the Colombian artist alongside a group of beautiful women in the snowy Mammoth Lakes of California, highlighting how Latinas bring their passion wherever they go.
Karol G gave a sneak peek of her new music on Wednesday (May 21) with a bold and sensual photo. “New single, new era,” she wrote in the caption next to her naked image, along with orange heart emojis representing her new look and more natural brown hair. In her previous musical eras, Karol had been associated with colors such as soft pink, bright red, and electric blue.
“The song pays tribute to her musical roots while propelling her into new and bold territories, solidifying a key moment in her artistic evolution,” says the official statement. “Latina Foreva” comes right after Karol’s reflective ballad “Milagros”, which is part of her Netflix documentary Tomorrow Was Beautiful. In this song, Karol sings about the miracles and blessings in her life. The track led her to achieve her first No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Pop Songs chart, dated May 24, after its first full week of tracking.
