La banda El Recodo se está preparando para el lanzamiento de su nuevo álbum en vivo, titulado ‘En Vivo Desde Japón’. Según ellos, esta fue una experiencia increíble y están emocionados de compartirlo con sus fans.

 Banda El Recodo, the iconic regional Mexican group, is preparing a unique release for their new album, En Vivo Desde Japón (Live from Japan). Recorded last year in Tokyo during their participation in the De Camino a Latinoamérica festival at Odaiba pier, the set will be released in five parts, week by week, starting this Thursday (April 3). “We made the decision to do it this way to offer something different,” says Alfonso “Poncho” Lizárraga, leader of the group formed in Mazatlán almost 87 years ago, in an exclusive interview with Billboard Español. “Under one title, we will showcase a group of songs according to their theme.” The first installment will be “Orgullo por México” (Pride for Mexico), which will include “Puño de tierra” (Fistful of Earth), “El sinaloense/El corrido de Mazatlán” (The Sinaloan/The Ballad of Mazatlán), and “El Rey/Cielito lindo/Viva México” (The King/Lovely Sky/Long Live Mexico). This will be followed by “Amor Como Lenguaje Universal” (Love as a Universal Language) on April 10, featuring the mix “Te presumo/Me gusta todo de ti/La mejor de todas” (I Show You Off/I Like Everything About You/The Best of All), “Y llegaste tú” (And You Arrived), and the focus track “No me aprovechaste” (You Didn’t Take Advantage of Me), an unreleased song written by Luciano Luna. On April 17, “Separación, Distancia, Desamor” (Separation, Distance, Heartbreak) will be released, including “Que te ruegue quien te quiera” (Let Whoever Loves You Beg You), “Yo sé que te acordarás/Vas a llorar por mí/ Acá entren nos” (I Know You’ll Remember Me/You’ll Cry for Me/Just Between Us), and “Triste recuerdo/Te ofrezco un corazón” (Sad Memory/I Offer You My Heart). A week later, on April 24, “Viva La Fiesta” (Long Live the Party) will be released, featuring “La Crazy Loca” (The Crazy Girl), “La Culebra” (The Snake), and “La Quebradora/Vámonos de fiesta” (The Breaker/Let’s Go Party). Finally, on May 8, En Vivo Desde Japón will be completed with a second unreleased song, “El malo soy yo” (I’m the Bad One), and “Qué bonita/El farol” (How Beautiful/The Lantern). This is the second time that Banda El Recodo has recorded a live album outside of Mexico. In 1995, they released Desde París, Francia, La Gira Europa ’95 (En Vivo) (From Paris, France, The Europe ’95 Tour [Live]). It is also the second time they have performed in Japan, where they went in 2002 to support the Mexican National Soccer Team in the World Cup, playing in five cities. “This time, we were invited to be part of an event where we could share our culture with 5,000 people. It was a great experience and a great source of pride,” says Lizárraga. “Today, there is a great openness to get to know Mexican music – that is very important to us, that mariachi and banda music are present all over the world.” “It is important to dignify traditional Mexican music,” he continues. “We want to respect the history of Mexican music and continue to preserve it. This doesn’t mean that we don’t support new talent and new generations, but it is important to maintain our traditions.” Banda El Recodo will kick off their 90’s Banda Tour in the United States on May 25 in Newburgh, New York – alongside Banda Machos, Banda Los Recoditos, and Banda Maguey – fusing traditional banda hits with techno banda or quebradita, a movement that caused a sensation in the 1990s. In Mexico, the tour is called “Gira 90’s Banda” (90’s Banda Tour).
