Miss Universe Sheynnis Palacios was greeted with a warm welcome in Puerto Rico this past weekend, where she made several stops across the Isla del Encanto to connect with locals and celebrate the island’s culture.
Among the weekend celebrations was Palacio’s attendance at a special event where former Miss Puerto Rico, Karla Guilfú, crowned Jennifer Colón as the 2024 Miss Puerto Rico. Colón will represent her country at the Miss Universe Pageant in November.

Ahead of the main event, Palacio’s first stop in Puerto Rico was at the Museo de San José, where she was greeted by the first lady of the capital city, Maritere González. The first lady gave Palacios a personal tour of the exhibits at the museum.
Palacios was then accompanied by Guilfi to the Capitol Room of the Mayor, Miguel Romero’s house, where they met with local businesswomen. She was also presented with a proclamation and a medal from the capital.
At the event, Palacios took to the podium to deliver a message about women’s empowerment. “On behalf of the participants that were with me celebrating the 62nd edition of Miss Universe, I am here to tell you with pride, that this is your time, this is your moment. The moment for women to take on the world, hold it, and raise it to a higher level.”
The day of tours also had a vibrant celebration in San Juan, where the Palacios and Guilfú danced alongside musicians, dancers, and locals for a celebration of Puerto Rican culture and pride. She even made an appearance dancing on stage during Miss Universe Puerto Rico.

Miss Puerto 2024, Jennifer Colón, also had the special opportunity to connect with Palacios amid the weekend celebrations. “I just met Sheynnis Palacios in person, Miss Universe 2023.” Says Colón in an Instagram reel. “I knew she was spectacular, I knew she was beautiful, but in person, it’s something else. I loved her visit to Puerto Rico.”
