Natti Natasha, Ha*Ash, and Belinda will be honored at the third annual Mujeres Latinas en la Música (Latin Women in Music) event, announced Billboard and Telemundo on Tuesday (April 8). The artists join Olga Tañón, Chiquis, and Anitta, who will also be recognized at this year’s event. Hosted by Mexican star Ana Bárbara, the two-hour music special will air live exclusively on Telemundo on April 24 at 9 p.m. ET and will celebrate “women who are positively driving the future of Latin music,” according to a press release. The program will also be broadcast on the Telemundo app, Universo, and Peacock.
Dominican singer Natti Natasha will be awarded the Unstoppable Artist Award, a recognition of her sustained influence in the music industry. Natti burst onto the Billboard charts when she scored her first No. 1 in 2012 as a featured artist on Don Omar’s hit “Dutty Love.” Since then, she has accumulated 34 entries on the overall Latin Airplay chart, including 17 top 10s, ten of which reached No. 1.
In terms of albums, her debut studio project, Iluminatti, reached new heights in 2019, entering the top 10 of both the Top Latin Albums and Latin Rhythm Albums charts, and peaking at No. 3. Most recently, her album Natti Natasha en Amargue, produced by Romeo Santos, earned her a top 10 debut on the Tropical Albums chart.
The sister duo Ha*Ash, composed of Hanna and Ashley, will receive the Unbreakable Award, which celebrates the collaboration between Latina artists who have made an indelible impact on the music industry. Honored for their resilience, innovation, and empowerment, Ha*Ash made an impressive debut in 2004, scoring their first top 10 on Latin Pop Airplay with “Estés donde estés,” which reached No. 9. Throughout the years, the duo has shown their staying power, accumulating a total of 16 entries on the chart, four of which reached the top 10. Most recently, the sisters made a notable comeback with “El cielo te mandó para mí,” a standout track from Haashville, which reached No. 7 on Latin Pop Airplay. They are currently on their Haashville Tour in the United States and Canada.
Belinda, on the other hand, will be honored with the Evolution Award, a special recognition for individuals who have shown exceptional growth, transformation, and innovation throughout their artistic career, as well as a lasting impact and commitment to the evolution of their vision and voice. Belinda’s debut album catapulted her to stardom in 2003, and she has since become one of the most successful and influential Latin pop artists of her generation. She has released six studio albums, all of which have charted on the Top Latin Albums chart, with her most recent album, Catarsis, reaching No. 1. Belinda has also had success on the singles charts, with 14 entries on the overall Latin Airplay chart, including three top 10s.
In addition to their musical achievements, Natti Natasha, Ha*Ash, and Belinda have also used their platforms to advocate for important causes and empower women in the music industry. They have all been vocal about issues such as gender equality, body positivity, and mental health, and have used their music to spread messages of empowerment and self-love.
The third annual Mujeres Latinas en la Música event will not only celebrate the accomplishments of these talented artists but also highlight the importance of diversity and representation in the music industry. It will be a night to honor and celebrate the contributions of women in Latin music and inspire future generations of female artists.
